"長莊" may mean "Bullish" on an economy, sector or individual in a 1 to 3 years, after reasonable analysis and speculation.
"長閒" may mean "Bearish"
Even under a big trend, stock price may still move up and down in form of wave.
Some people may do short-term trade (短炒/證券玩家), and they may rely on "路數", but risk falling into traps of professional players and unexpected events (including sentiments and accidents).
Smart speculators (投機者), who bet on mid-term trend, may play a game of 1 to 3 years on specific theme.
Long-term investors (投資者) may buy & hold quality shares which post steady earnings growth over the years.
Both "投機者" & "投資者" are playing "長莊/長閒"
